Late January Monte Report
Well, The Monte Report is now four years old. A lot has transpired over the past four years, with many ups and downs, but on the whole I feel that I am doing better than ever before. In no way do I think I am "cured" of depression - I doubt I'll ever be. But, since my breakdown in 2007 when I left my job for six months and moved far far away, the "ups" have outweighed the "downs". So, even now, when I'm facing increased stress at work and have a realistic fear that I will be missing work in the near future due to my depression, I believe that I will weather the "downs" of the near future and come out the other side feeling even better than ever.
One troublesome change this month has been a change in my thyroid medication. The thyroid can have a big influence on one's mood, and my thyroid functioning has been rather stable over the past couple years, thanks to my thyroid medication. But, the medication I've been taking for years is experiencing a nationwide shortage, and so my doctor switched me to something new. It's only been a few days since I switched, and so far nothing bad has come of it. Still, right now wasn't the best time to be making a change in my medications.
Anyhow, thanks for your ongoing support. I couldn't do this without all the supportive family, friends and coworkers in my life.
